Lord Mordrid's Dungeon
2005 was the most ambitious project I've ever undertaken. It was in the planning and procurement stages for 2 years. I knew I wanted to build a chair riser prop for this years yard haunt. I decided on a darker theme than I usually do. Lord Mordrid's Dungeon. I picked up several decorative items that I knew I could use on the chair in 2004. The video on the first page kind of says it all from the beginning stages to Halloween Night. I used the Trippy Troll mask I had purchased years before. It gave Mordrid more of a fantasy look than evil or demonic. The chair and body were built using Steve Hickman of Terror Syndicate's plans. Since I wanted the chair to have more of a throne look I made the wings from Vile Things site and attached them to the sides. The dragon skulls for the fronts of the legs and the Viking skulls for the tops of the chair backs were purchased at various Halloween stores the year before. I finished the fronts of the legs to look like boney claws with a chicken wire frame covered with paper towel and sculpted with Celluclay from Michaels.

The left pic is of the wings being airbrushed. Center photo is of leg fronts. I started the right one with a skin treatment instead of bone. Right photo is of finished legs, I decided to go with the boney treatment for both legs. Finished leg fronts on right.
Because everything needed to be as light as possible I used felt for Mordrid's gown. The hands came from Terror Syndicate, are very light weight. They were painted to match the mask. The photo on the right are of the wings attached to the chair.
Above are other elements that went into the 2005 display. The Chained Spectre was hung from the end of the patio on the left side. Elvira's walls were used for the backdrop. Skulls and the hanging Reaper bust came from Halloween Club in Santa Fe Springs. An American DJ Fog Storm 1200HD fogger was used behind the walls and placed to get a wash of fog up the back of the walls and spilling over the top. An Abyss II lighting system was used to illuminate the fog with different iridescent colors. On the left side of the yard was my Beast Crate which held Lord Mordrid's beasts. A coffin knocker with someone just dying to get out and Grim Rot eyeing the coffin just waiting to greet the new visitor. And of course my Reaper watching over all.
