For this years project I decided  I would go back to the Organist theme. After purchasing this organ,
which is a whole story in itself, I started designing the chair and the organist. I decided to go with Devious
Concoctions skeletal organist. After struggling with this project because the Bucky skeleton chest cavity
has shrunk and wouldn't fit over the metal frame, I scrapped that idea and changed the total look of
Grimsley my organist.
This organ was suppose to be the Evil Organ from Scare Factory. That is what I ordered. Because of a switch
made from a middle man supplier, I ended up with this organ from Scare Parts instead. Please be careful
when you order something from a prop distributor that they are dealing with the correct company. I will add
that the company I order from was as much surprised by this switch as I was.
I felt that Grimsley needed more than just an organ bench to sit on so the pics are the chair that he will be
sitting on. I'm still working out the paint scheme. The black is just the base coat.
When the chair is finished 3 skulls from
Terror Syndicate will be added to the
back to pull in the skull motif from the
organ.
The finished chair. I'm happy the way
this turned out. Not too bad from scrap
lumber and left over paint from other
projects.
The mirror in the process of being
creeped out.
I've added organ stops to above the keyboards and put the oval mirror above the winged skull so
the Tot'ers will be able to see Grimsley's face. I used small skulls from Terror Syndicate and latex
cobwebs to creep out the mirror.
Here is a quick video I shot of the
finished organ pipes. I used mini LED
spots from Minispotlight.com to light
the back 6 pipes in green and also 2
for lighting the keyboard. A Chauvet
FX 800 fogger was used to pump fog
into the pipes. Luckily no one called
the fire department. The front pipes
are lit with standard 40 watt colored
bulbs hooked up to a I Zombie stereo
lightening controller from Fright Props.
Plumbing to get the fog into the back 6 pipes. I used pvc elbows in the back of the pipes. The fog intake chamber is
abs with pvc stems. I used 1 inch inside diameter plastic tubing to get the fog from the chamber to the pipes. I
stuffed the bottom of the pipes with newspaper. Not exactly an engineering marvel but it works.
